OK, maybe this isn’t the greatest question of our times, but hopefully the title caught your attention.
For quite some time now I have dealt with an issue of surmounting concern. It’s one that has troubled me when my mind wanders to the absurd. I’ve tried answering this question Algebraically, Chemically, and Physically (haven’t tried spiritual or metaphysical yet).
Here is the issue:
What do you get when you add mild taco bell sauce to hot taco bell sauce?
Algebra would say that if Hot = A and Mild = B then you would have A+B (hot + mild sauce) which this would mean that the hot sauce would be hotter.
Chemically speaking, adding a diluted solution to a stronger solution would result in a diluted variant of the first solution, provided that the materials combined were of the same type. (I checked the ingredients . . . This is a big 10-4) this would result in a variant that could be called “Medium”
However physics would dictate that matter is neither created nor destroyed and that by adding to the potency of the hot sauce, the amount of jalapeño would increase and therefore create a hotter version of hot sauce. (But I don’t believe this is on par with the Fire Sauce)
Then I figured I’d go to someone who works in the food business. This brought in a friend who is a chef (not a taco bell employee though), his response was that the mixture would add more water to my flavoring sauce and that would create a weaker version that I could call medium. This was a fast answer from him, and despite the science that I could use to say otherwise, he sided with the medium sauce.
So what is it? Hotter or milder
